On September 11, 2014, CNHR and partners hosted a workshop examining the management of mass movements for consequence reduction. The workshop contrasted European and Canadian practice.

The workshop examined how we presently reduce disruption and destruction from mass movements, and how we could do better based on European and Canadian practice and governance. The MMM 2014 Workshop provided a platform for discussions about management and mitigation of rockfall, debris flow and avalanche hazards. It brought together practitioners and scientists from Austria, France and Canada. They reviewed where current practices have come from, demonstrated the state-of-the-art of mitigation measures, exchanged experiences with guidelines and regulatory instruments, and compared and discussed existing solutions and their future place in management.

The workshop organizational information is available as a pdf downloadable booklet.
